Plainet Squalane Oil 100
🌱 Claims: Alcohol-free, Paraben-free, Silicone-free, Sulfate-free, Allergen-free, Cruelty-free, Fragrance-free, Pregnancy-friendly, Non-comedogenic, Fungal Acne-Safe, Eczema-Safe
Helps promote cell turnover and lessens the appearance of fine lines.
Improves skin health by soothing redness and skin irritation.
🌱 Key Ingredients: This product has one ingredient - 100% sugarcane-derived squalane oil
🌱 Texture: Thin, light, clear oil. This is considered a “dry oil” which gives a non-greasy finish (if you use the right amount🥲)
Squalane is a fantastic ingredient because it is very similar to skin’s own oil. It should never clog pores, and skin cells absorb it readily.
🌱 Scent: None
🌱 Price: $18.40CA for 30mL or $1.63/mL
🌱 Application: Like many facial oils, a little goes a long way, and too much can set you back. A couple drops will absorb quickly, but don’t try to apply an entire dropper-full at once, or it has a tendency to sit on top of the skin and feel greasy or cause skincare to pill. If you need extra moisture, massage this in multiple thin layers. Rub it in and build it up slowly and your skin will thank you.
🌱 Other uses: Can be mixed with rich, emollient moisturisers to sheer them out.
This is also an excellent product for facial massage techniques while it is absorbing.
🌱 Every day: Yes, even oily skin types. It may be a more seasonal product for dry winters for some.
🌱 Packaging: This product is packaged in a clear glass bottle with a dropper applicator. I haven’t found any literature stating if squalane is damaged by UV light, though most other oils are and are stored in tinted or opaque bottles.
🌱 Accessibility: This bottle is similar to The Ordinary and other glass bottles with dropper tops. It is average in accessibility.
🌱 Sustainability: As a brand, Purito has made significant steps towards sustainability, using post-consumer recycled plastic for their packaging, and switching their tube products to a high-quality paper. Their boxes are made from recycled sugarcane fibres printed with soy ink.
🌱 Overall: If you find that The Ordinary’s Rosehip oil is not to your liking, you might try this. It has no scent, and an even lighter consistency. It will help seal in water-based hydration from evaporation, and make plump skin last longer.
🌱 It's easy to apply too much, but you can use blotting paper to remove excess
🌱 For better or worse, single-ingredient products contajn gaps, and should be combined with a skincare routine that provides a range of benefits.
