Anthelios UVMune 400 Hydratisierende Creme LSF 50+
There is a ton of hype about the sunscreen filter used in this sunscreen (and other sunscreens by La Roche Posay) and for good reason.
UVMUNE400 is the first filter to effectively protect the skin against the ultra-long UV rays (the UVA rays from 380 nanometers). The ultra-long UVA rays are considered super insidious; they are responsible for aging and skin cancer formation (along with other UVA and UVB rays) and until now have been largely neglected by sun protection filters of the past.
UVMUNE400 is proven to protect the skin against deep cell damage and will help to prevent skin cancer.
It's an exciting thing, truly. I really love hearing about all of the exciting advancements in the realm of sun protection.
If only the US would work to approve new sunscreen filters like this one! New sunscreen filters haven't been approved by the US in almost 25 years. We are so far behind Europe and other countries that it's embarrassing. It's almost like they want to keep people sick or something. No new sunscreen filters = people less likely to use uncomfortable/ irritating chemical sunscreens = more skin cancer = more profit for the garbage healthcare system?
Maybe I'm crazy but I just don't understand why new filters haven't been approved.
Anyway! This sunscreen is lovely. It's a lightweight hydrating cream, fragrance free. It would probably suit more dry skin types but my oily skin can tolerate it just fine, although it does leave a bit of a glowy finish. I don't find it uncomfortable at all and it doesn't sting my eyes. There is zero whitecast. Doesn't pill and sits well under makeup.
The best part about wearing this is that when I have to be outside in the sun I know my skin is well protected. I opt for lighter, more mattifying sunscreens for days that I'm mostly inside and I know I don't need the most intense protection but when hiking or spending time directly in the sun I like to use this.
Sadly it is not available in the US at the moment. Hopefully that will change in the future. I bought this with my own money!
Nothing bad at all!
