Eclipse SPF 50 Plus
I love this mineral sunscreen, it’s the best one I’ve ever tried. I was losing hope with sunscreens because of eye sting or straight up eyelid irritation. Glad I tried it. Here are my thoughts…
First of all, the 100g size is wonderful. It’s £45 so really it’s roughly £22.50 if we’re going by the standard 50ml face sunscreen size. I prefer not having to rebuy products frequently so this is ideal.
The texture of this is a thick cream, but it blends seamlessly around eyebrows and the hairline. In terms of white cast, it’s very minimal compared to others. I’d rate the severity as a 2.5/5 upon initial application but it does tone down a bit after it has set. If you have fair/light skin or you’re planning on wearing makeup over the top, this is completely fine. I believe it achieves this smoother and less white appearance because it uses micronised zinc oxide instead.
I have combination skin and I’m using tretinoin 0.025% so I can use this as a moisturiser in the morning, this is the best way for me. I have tried applying it 15 minutes after a usual medium weight moisturiser in the morning and it worked just as well! Though it was a little more greasy on me. If you have dry skin then this will be perfect, perhaps as a moisturiser as well.
I also have rosacea and as I said, sensitive eyes. There was no eye sting and I noticed that it didn’t even irritate my already irritated eyelids.
If you’re sensitive to chemical filters and want a sunscreen that comes in a larger container, has a minimal white cast, isn’t gritty or chunky, has lovely packaging with a pump and can afford it, give this a go.
Nothing but some may find this too heavy when layering with their favourite creams. White cast will likely be visible on medium-deep skin tones.
