Lip Oil Honey Infused
Don't hate me but I don't get the hype around Gisou lip oil.
Let me get straight to the point. I got Gisou oil in Sephora for 28 euros (about $30). To be perfectly honest I think it's a ridiculous price for just a small lip oil, but I was sad and I needed a new lippie (tell me you haven't done it at least once in your life! 😅).
So is the Gisou lip oil worth it? After using it for a month, I think it's overpriced.
It's only a decent lip oil, and there are tons of different products that deliver better at tiny fraction of its price.
Let me now explain you why I don't get the hype around it.
According to Gisou website, this oil claims to be: "intensely hydrating" and "instantly smooth, plump and define lips while enhancing their natural color".
My experience with it:
▫️Hydration is only decent and stays for maybe 1 hour. Then I feel nothing on my lips.
▫️You know how some lip oils give you that juicy glass lips look? Well, this one gives you very small effect, and after few minutes even that tiny juiciness is gone 🥺 (definitely expected more at this price point) If I try to put a few layers of it, the oil drips to the edge of my bottom lip making it look nearly orange.
▫️I also do not like the color of it on my lips - I have the Honey Gold shade and it doesn't enhance my natural color, but makes them look peachy and personally I don't think this color suits me. That's of course just my personal preferences. I know that Gisou has now other shades available, maybe they would look better on me.
▫️I'm not a fan of its taste, to me it seems very artificial.
My final verdict is that Gisou lip oil is not worth the hype and considering that it's only meeeh in terms of hydration I don't think it's worth 28 euros and I'm not going to repurchase it. I have two other lip oils that cost 4 times less and give me most juicy and hydrated lips ever!
Not hydrating enough, unpleasant artificial smell and taste
