Cheongidan Radiant Regenerating Gold Concentrate
History of Whoo is known for its innovative approach to ancient cosmetic recipes. This serum contains multiple ferments like soybean ferment, as well as PHA, ginseng, beta-glucan, ceramides, algae, and various botanical extracts.
There are a lot of ingredients in this serum that are becoming more popular recently, so I was excited to see how effective they are in this formula.
The serum itself is extremely thick and gloopy! I was concerned it may just sit on my skin in a sticky layer, but it actually absorbs quite well and wasn't difficult to spread. It sort of melts into the skin quite quickly, and doesn't leave much tackiness at all. When I used a bit too much and it was a bit sticky, it disappeared quickly when I applied my moisturizer. It doesn't cause other products to pill generally, and it gives your skin an instant glow. It's very lightly fragranced with a kind of fresh, citrusy scent. I found after a couple weeks of use my skin was more firm, and some of my acne marks were definitely lightening.
Cost: $220 USD per 40ml
It is incredibly expensive, though you can get samples of it equal in volume to the bottle on some sites for significantly less.
It has a lot of known irritants as well as fragrance, so people with sensitive skin or allergies should be cautious.
I have some concerns about whether this product's ingredients are ethically sourced. It contains velvet from antlers, which is something that is naturally shed yearly and can be harvested in a very humane way, but is an industry that has lead to poaching and a lot of sketchy black market sales. I wish I knew their supplier, as well as the purpose of the ingredient. It also contains mica, which is in many cosmetics, but once again often comes through markets that rely on slave labour and the exploitation of child workers. It is very possible they have sourced these ingredients well, but I tend to avoid products that contain them because it is hard to be sure. So if those are ingredients that make you uncomfortable, you will not like this particular serum.
