Like any retinol, it will cause purging if you have a proclivity for it. Though, this retinol made me purge like no other, but I cannot say whether or not it was the product or other conditions. Also, if not used for a day or so, the product hardens and when you pump it out, you have a mass of dried retinol that's a little annoying to apply.
