In a passionate community like this, there will always be someone telling you that one thing is the holy grail and another person telling you it is actual garbage. I find I place value on things that I can see results from and/or that I enjoy using. If you like using vit c, and you think your products are worth the money you spend on them, then that's perfect.
I don't use vit C personally but nothing against it - just haven't found a product I really want to use.

I'm 100% with you. I'm experimenting alot with skincare products and there are really few products that I stick to all the time precisely because I have visible results when using them. That's why I'm in the fence about vitamin C. I use it mainly for prevention but I can't really see any immediate effects. Which is fair, as someone mentioned above, as we don't see immediate results with sunscreen and we're using it for prevention as well. Skincare can be confusing sometimes ๐ฐ

Well, I think it's up for everyone to use this or not. Personally I use it recently and so far it's working but as you said, I use other things alongside to help reduce my wrinkles and pores and texture.

I use vitamin c, I absolutely love it and it showed to be very effective at dealing with my PIE and PIH. Overall, i love to have an antioxidant in my routine and even tho there might only be studies on the exact percentages that Skinceuticals used, there are a lot of vit c serums with vit e and ferulic that should be stable as well. As for measuring anti aging benefits, sure, itโs hard to do it, but everyone pretty much agrees there are ones, so i would rather take my shot. Like, you also donโt know how much better your skin will look in 20 years if youโll use sunscreen daily, but we know it WILL be less damaged, so we still are using it. There are some polish aestheticians on yt that advicate vit c as one of the most important steps, as in you need spf and if you can only have one other serum, go for antioxidants, namely vit c. And since they have been working multiple years and have experience with multiple peopleโs skin, i do trust them that vit c indeed is what itโs hyped up to be. Tho obviously not every vit c serums is the same - Cyrille Laurent, a french stem cells scientist, says that only 10-20% range of ascorbic acid are proven to work as antioxidants, so itโs probably best to reach for products that fit into that, tho I believe the G&G serum does ๐

That's why I'm still using vitamin C serum, hoping my skin will age better than if I wasn't using it ๐
. It doesn't have any adverse effects on my skin and G&G is quite cheap so no buyers remorse there (I experienced some breakouts with Dear Klairs though).
Btw I'm a fan of Cyrille as well! One of my fav skincare youtubers โค๏ธ (I watch both of his channels, eng and fr as well).

I use the same vitamin c and for my hyperpigmentation it helps a lot but I don't think it's a skincare necessity for everyone. A vitamin c serum not well formulated might be useless though

Exactly! But how to tell if it's well formulated? Ferulic acid and vitamin e increase vitamin C stability and also it should have pH around 3. Other than that we can only guess if the product works or not ๐ฅบ. It so frustrating for me ๐
I'd love to know 100% if my serum is doing what it claims to do!

I use a vitamin C mainly for the brightening effects for my hyperpigmentation. I'm not sure about it being an antioxidant, but I know for sure it's a good brightening product ๐
. Plus I guess i just use it as a preventative as well.
