How to stop scratches from scarring!

Hi everyone! So a few days ago I was holding my cat and she heard a noise and jumped and well she ended up scratching my chest. Now I know this is a skin care app and I feel like most people focus on their face but I’m hoping someone would be able to help me and tell me what I could do to help it from scarring. She scratched my knee a few years back and it ended up scarring and I am worried these scratches will scar over too if I don’t do anything. Just for reference too this wasn’t a hug deep scratch like I wasn’t bleeding profusely or anything crazy it just hurt and stung for a little bit right after but that’s it. And it scabbed over lightly but it ended up coming off when I showered but it also wasn’t bleeding or anything so is that a good sign? Anyways I looked it up a little bit but I’m terrible when it comes to finding stuff and trying to figure out what works best, which is my main reason for being on this app. But I did see that Vaseline could help, I haven’t used any of it but I have used a bit of the antibiotic ointment I took a picture of below (sorry it’s not the best photo) but it was what my mom recommended to me and it’s supposed to be like Vaseline but more medicated (please don’t quote me) But yeah maybe I’m over reacting and I don’t need to do much, I’m just more worried of it scarring because it is on my chest and it is more up on my chest too like it’s visible if I wear anything lower than a tank top neck. But I’ll appreciate any suggestions or thoughts. Tysm in advance!!

Hi, when I was a child I fall on my face and it leaves this big scar on the right side of my face. My doctor told me to use this oitment named Thrombophob, a Heparin Sodium ointment, when the wound closed (there was this hard layer that was on the top of my scar) I applied the ointment there. Now, there is no trace of scar at all on my face. But it best to consult with your doctor, as I read you might have allergic reaction to Heparin Sodium ointment.

I didn’t realize you could still use exfoliants, like they don’t affect them, so that’s so good to hear!!

Vaseline is really helpful, that’s true! You should always keep your wound moisturized. If you really want to make sure to not have a scar, you should use retinol on it, once fully healed. I hope everything goes well for you! 💗 (Scars look badass tho ;))

A good retinol product is this one: (Note: you should start slow, 1 or twice in the evening and always wear sun screen the next day!)
