Mugort and pregnancy

Is it safe to use mugwort skincare products when pregnant? I feel like I dont see any warnings about it, but apparently it could cause miscarriages? I was trying to buy a gift, and it was so stressful because it just doesn't seem clear.

There are some ingredients you should definitely avoid when pregnant, like salicylic acid and retinol. Unfortunately, plant extracts are usually less studied then actives 😭 while there isn’t quite enough information out there to say with all certainty that mugwort is dangerous, it is LIKELY to cause miscarriage and be unsafe while breast feeding. Because pregnancy is such a sensitive topic and it’s better to avoid even the tiniest risks, i would definitely advise to not use mugwort while pregnant. There are a lot of great ingredients that are proven to be safe to pregnant women and unborn children, so while i’m rather sceptical most of the times when people are demonising ingredients, this is definitely a time to be rather safe than sorry and skip mugwort all together. You can find other products that aren’t questionable and work just as well🥰

I suggest consulting your obgyn but as far as I know it is safe to use topically but ingesting it should be avoided if you're pregnant or lactating. I read some articles that said it can start your menstruation or cause your uterus to contract which leads to a miscarriage. But there's not much research on plant extracts such as mugwort. But actives such as retinol or salicylic acid should be avoided surfing pregnancy. I advise you do your own research and talk to a professional. Hope this helps! ❤️

I’m usually more on the „yes, experiment, have fun with your routine” side. But when it’s a pregnancy related question i’m suddenly like „can i introduce you to our lord and saviour vaseline?”.

I haven't seen any warnings about mugworth, so I'm not sure, but if you're scared, it's best to use minimal skincare.
