No essence is like serum but milder and not so much concentrated unlike serum๐Ÿ˜Š

Essence use before serum (same a serums but low %), and after toner.

Yes, you can skip essence (if you feel not need this), but you cant skip toner (toner is basic)

toner is lowe concentration than essence. but you dont have to use both toner and essence, you can choose one, it depends on your preference
