Tretinoin – Safe or Not? Confused About FDA's Warning!
Hey Picky Fam! I wanted to share an experience and get your thoughts. Last month, I had a bad reaction to a TXA serum that caused breakouts, so I stopped using it and took a break from all skincare for a week. After consulting a dermatologist, I was prescribed Tretinoin, and since then, my skin has improved a lot! It's smoother, and acne rarely appears now, although my PIE and PIH are still noticeable. However, I recently came across some big news here in Indonesia. My country's national FDA issued a warning about several non-registered skincare brands being "dangerous" because they contain Mercury, Hydroquinone, Steroids, and even Tretinoin! This left me really confused. I always thought Tretinoin was a powerful and effective ingredient, especially when prescribed by a doctor. Now I’m questioning: How can Tretinoin be dangerous if it’s commonly prescribed by dermatologists? Is it only risky when found in non-regulated products, or is there something else I should be aware of? I’d love to hear your experiences and thoughts on this. Have you heard similar concerns in your countries, or do you have any insights into this?
