How much niacinamide is too much?

Hii!! So I've recently been made aware of something called the niacin flush. Apparently, it's when you use too much niacinamide or when it's matched with a wrong active ingredient. So how much niacinamide is too much? And what other active ingredients should I avoid? Thank you!!

niacinamide can be used with every inhredient ! all studies on the benefits of niac were made with 2-5% ! everything above is more potential irritation ! niacinamide is contained in many products , so you dont need an extra serum for it !

Hello 👋🏻 Niacinamide can be used with pretty much anything, there is no specific ingredient to avoid pairing it with (some brands, like the Ordinary or Revox, state that their niacinamide serums shouldn’t be used with their vitamin c products, but unless the brand tells you so, you can still use niacinamide and vitamin c together). As for too much, there is no simple answer to that as it depends on a person. Some people can only handle 2% niacinamide, though most people feel comfortable wih 2-5%. Then there are 10% niacinamide serums that are very popular since it’s not a very harsh active and while it’s too much for some, most people don’t react badly to it. There are people for whom high percentages of niacinamide can work very well and they can combine their 10% serum with other products containing lower percentages of niacinamide without a problem (i have a lot of products with lower niacinamide percentages and i still use them with my 10% niacinamide). There are even serums with 12%-20% of niacinamide and while you definitely don’t need so much of it, a lot of people still won’t react badly to it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Niacinamide generally has no conflicts - certain brands such as the ordinary will state on their online guide or packaging if there is any conflicts, like with their vitamin C’s. Niacinamide is so commonly found in many products so it’s not required to have a separate serum; though it can be more effective when you have a separate products for it. The best concentration lies between 2-5% - anything above can cause irritation and sensitivity for some, but there are many skin’s who can handle percentages like 10% and love it!

It depends. For my friend 10% works great, for me it's too much. Especially since every single product now has to contain niacinamide. It builds up and gets too much. Also, it depends on the formulation. I can't deal with The Ordinary Niacinamide but the Revox one, with also 10% works quite good (if I avoid Niacinamide in other products)

Generally, 2-5% is the ideal standard in skincare. It shows that with that %, it can shows effective results already. But then again, you need to understand your skin. For me, i feel that 10% is too much for me for long term use. It can hurt my skin barrier
