Does Vit C cause purging? What else?

I just reincorporated Vit C back into my skincare about a month ago. Sense my jawline is broke out and so is my neck. I also use other actives but I been using them no problem. What other ingredients will cause you to purge? How long until it goes away? I tried a dermatologist last year and they gave me the strongest retinoid and my face was a disaster for a entire year. It cleared up once I stopped using and I'm hoping this isn't the same case. Please help!

To my knowledge vitamin C shouldn’t cause purging, it’s possible your skin is just reacting negatively to that product

Vitamin C CAN cause purging. And so can retinoids and acids (AHA, BHA). Purging lasts around a month, but it differs for everyone. If you want to avoid or lessen it, start with lower concentrations or use a smaller amount (1-2 drops) of the product around 2 times a week. Then slowly increase the amount and frequency as your skin gets used to it.

as fas as I know vit c shouldn’t but there’s no guarantee… you could always allergic to any ingredient. also maybe check if the product has oxidized. try stop using it and see if that solves the issue.

I believe it depends on how your skin takes it

I have not experienced personally, but i hear retinol can make your skin thin and very sensitive (hence, always use sunscreen!)
