CeraVe isn't the culprit just the consequence. Your skin barrier is ultra sensitive due to tret and hydroquinone.
You gotta compensate with super protecting moisturizer to rebuild your skin barrier.
Once everything is stabilised you will probably be able to use your HG again.

Your skin barrier could have been damaged or become sensitive due to use of tretinoin and hydroquinone, try repairing your skin barrier first and using minimal products, nothing harsh and once it's repaired you probably won't burn from cerave again x

It's your weakened skin barrier due to tret & hydroquinone use that is causing the burning sensation. Happened to me too when I started using adapalene. A bunch of toners, serums and sunscreens that used to work fine on me, suddenly stings my skin when applied. So it's quite normal since our skin barrier is more sensitive than usual. The cleanser shouldn't sting or burn anymore after your skin barrier heals.

Yes me! Not sure why and I don't normally have sensitive skin. Strangely my skin had no problems with their salicylic acid cleanser (apart from being a bit too drying for my already dry skin), but the hydrating cleanser burnt my skin off, I was shocked. Looked like an allergic reaction and took me almost a week to recover. You are not alone!
