Ointment
My holy grail and go-to spot treatment for acne! I've been using this for years! More than 5 years I think and I've constantly repurchased throughout. Probably the only product I've repurchased because I don't usually stick to a particular product as I like trying new stuff 😂 So you know it's a big deal if I actually repurchased something lol.
This is a thick ointment that contains a combination of benzoic acid, salicylic acid and sulfur. These active ingredients as you may already know, are all effective treatments for acne and together this trio is no match against those pesky pimples! 😆
As you can imagine, by having all these active ingredients it certainly has a very strong medicinal scent, particularly the smell of sulfur. This ointment has a thick, white paste texture that leaves a tingly, minty sensation once applied. Also, one little tin lasts for a really long time as you only need to use a small amount. So a little really does go a long way with this ointment.
It works really well on both newly formed and active acne. You know those bumps underneath the skin that suddenly formed out of nowhere, indicating a nasty pimple incoming? Yeah it works perfectly for that. I put some of the ointment on those bumps at nighttime, and it's usually gone by the next day! Although sometimes it may take longer 😅 For active pimples with pus (pustules), this usually helps it come to a head fast and also helps dry it out in a few days time. But with pustules, I like using this ointment to help it come to a head first then I'll use a pimple patch to absorb all the pus and sebum inside.
In conclusion, I love using Nixoderm ointment as a spot treatment as it works for me and will continue using it 🥰 The price point for this is also amazing! It's dirt cheap and can be easily found in local drugstores and online as well.
- leaves a white residue where it's applied due to it's texture so best applied during night time
- it stings sometimes especially on active acne so sensitive peeps might not like this
- has a strong medicinal and sulfur smell
- doesn't work on blackheads as marketed but good for pimples
- the packaging of the product. Comes in a little tin where you have to dip your finger into to get the product out. Typical for an ointment with this type of paste texture.
