Aveeno - allaboutskin review for Dermexa Fast & Long-Lasting Balm

This is such a nice texture for a balm, a soft, almost powdery consistency with a hint of a sweet, oatmeal scent! It is quite thick at first but melts down and spreads easily! As you would expect from Aveeno, there's several oat derived ingredients in here; oat kernel oil, oat extract and oat flour! This also uses glycerin as the first ingredient rather than more typical ingredients such as mineral oil or petrolatum. Not that there's anything wrong with those but in high amounts they can feel too occlusive and aren't the most pleasant texture-wise! There's also ceramide 3 plus caprylic/capric triglyceride for further moisturizing and dimethicone as an occlusive! I love to use this on particularly dry days, it does such a wonderful job of locking in hydration, healing dry patches and providing that soothing benefit from all the oats, which helps reduce redness on application too! It's a nice one to have around, especially if you're using retinoids or other harsh skincare treatments and want something occlusive and soothing. If you're into balms, this is a good option!
