SPF 50 Sheer Moisturizer
I'm always on the hunt for a silicone free, non-nano mineral sunscreen that leaves no white cast or dries out my skin, so I definitely had to try the Open Formula SPF50 Moisturizer
This is a broad spectrum sunscreen that protects from UV-rays and blue-violet light. It uses 12% zink oxide in a very creamy formula packed with hydrating and nourishing ingredients like aloe, allantoin, capric triglyceride and Squalane
It's free from fragrance (but has a wonderful scent of the raw materials), silicones, drying alcohols, gluten and nuts. It's vegan and cruelty free
It is a very rich formula. The white cast is visible in the beginning but gone after you work the product "into" your skin. There is no visible white cast at all but skin is left shiny. It might be a problem for oilier skin types
As with almost all mineral sunscreens, I find that it dries my skin during the day but this is by far, one of the less drying formulas I have tried
How can a non nano mineral sunscreen leave so little white cast? I guess it has to do with the formula only containing 12% zink in it
Is 12% zink oxide enough? I know percentages are not the only factor, as proper formulation can allow zink to disperse properly but it sure seems low. I know Isdin has some in their Eryfotona line that contain 11% zink and are independently tested and approved. What I can say it's that I am using this in the Danish Autumn and it works for me
As all zink oxide based sunscreens, its a little drying throughout the day
