Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
This product has three ingridients with two ingridients being the highlight - ascorbic acid and alpha arbutin. Together, these both are an amazing brightening duo! I did notice my scars become significatly brighter in the two months I used it. This was my very first vitamin C, and I had no irritation whatsoever, so it is very gentle to those who are wanting to start off. Vitamin C in combo with SPF works even better to protect your skin from sun damamge, so I liked to pair this with my SPF in the morning on some days. Overall, it did what it was suppose to.
The texture of this product is what stopped me from continuing with it. I have dry skin so the oily residue when I first patched didn’t put me off. However, once on my face, it just never absorbed. I always felt it on my skin, and was difficult to apply moisturiser and SPF on afterwards. I even reduced the amount I put on, and targeted the serum on areas I wanted lightening but it still would not absorb. I switched it night time use, and the lingering smell was odd thought I got used to it.
I do think this serum is those who can deal with this texture, as it does do its job but for me, I’d prefer something more comfortable on my skin.
UPDATE: I’ve decided to give it another star since I have started using it again recently (to try finish the bottle rather than wasting it). I use it in my night routine and I can’t lie, if you spend a few minutes massaging it into your face, it actually ends up feeling quite nice and moisturising. I don’t have time like that in the morning but it’s better to use at night! I also didn’t layer it with a lot of products - cleanser, toner, vitamin c, moisturise - it seemed to absorb better that way.
