Personally, I disagree with its usage as a stand alone moisturiser as it's not occlusive enough -it has moisturising and soothing benefits and it didn't seem to irritate my skin even on days when I had dry patches. The bottle describes to use it as the first step of your routine so that's how I've been using it.
