Marine Active Emulsion
The Skin House - Marine Active Serum
I received this product for free from Picky and The Skin House in exchange for my honest review.
For those who love Korean brands, the SKIN HOUSE is one of the good ones. I have tried the Marine Active Serum and so far is great.
The price point is 26.57 CA at YESSTYLE.COM and 34.72 CA at STYLEVANA.
I got this product for free so I think is fair I make one hell of a review to help you all know more about the product and my personal experience.
Ingredients and benefits:
Between its ingredients you can find:
-antioxidants that are anti-aging ingredients that help the skin combat collagen-damaging free radicals. Among the key ingredients, we can find pearl extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (tomato) fruit extract, and Nelumo Nucifera seed extract.
-skin identical ingredients that are wonderful ingredients that can be found in the skin or mimic the things that can be found in the skin naturally.
Example:
-Sodium Hyaluronate: humectant, skin conditioning, acts as a sponge helping the skin to hold onto water, being plump and elastic.
-Glycerin: humectant, skin conditioning, skin protection against irritation, helps to restore the barrier.
-Ceramide NP: play a super important role in having a healthy skin barrier and keeping the skin hydrated.
-Arginine: a semi-essential amino acid that builds blocks of skin collagen offering nice moisturizing and hydrating benefits.
-soothing ingredients to help reduce inflammation and soothe the skin. They are helpful in general to slow the aging process of the skin and they are super helpful for several common skin diseases like acne, rosacea or sensitive skin.
Example:
-honey: it is very moisturizing, and has soothing and antioxidant abilities as well as significant antibacterial and antifungal magic powers.
-Lonicera Japonica, or Japanese Honeysuckle: has anti-inflammatory, soothing properties with possible antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-oxidative benefits.
-moisturizing/humectant ingredients that help the skin to cling onto water and hold onto it so that your skin feels nicely moisturized.
Example:
-Betaine: Offers skin protection and moisturizing properties.
-emollient ingredients that make your skin soft, smooth and lovely.
Example:
-Aloe: moisturizing, emollient and anti-inflammatory properties.
-Hydrogenated Lecithin: emulsifying, skin conditioning.
-Hydrolyzed collagen: a great moisturizer and humectant that helps the skin to hold onto water making the skin nice and smooth.
How to use
-Apply after toner.
-Pat gently for better absorption.
Personal experience:
Day 1:
-the bottle is beautiful and has a pumper which I love bc helps me measure how much product I want to use. If I press gentle just a little drop comes out and not the whole pump.
-1 pump goes a long way. I do agree this serum helps retain moisture in the skin for a long time.
-Dewy effect. On the first day, I used 2 pumps and my skin looks very dewy. If you are not a fan of a dewy look then you might want to use it as a night serum or just use 1 pump.
-Texture: light and nourishing.
-My skin complexion used to be oily but now is very sensitive and goes from normal to dry (as I am relatively new with the use of Retin-A my skin has been changing). Now, when I first applied it in the morning I did notice a mild irritation but the sensation vanished quickly. However, after 3 hours I did feel a little bit of itchiness on my chin. I will change my routine tomorrow morning and I will see how my skin reacts. It might be great if this helps me reduce the number of products I use to keep my skin hydrated and plump.
Would I buy it again?
Not sure yet.
Day 2
1 pump: Today I used 1 pump. My skin has no dewy effect anymore. That’s cool because I can have the best of both worlds.
Texture: watery and moisturizing.
Itchiness: none.
Irritation: Yeah, so this serum has hyaluronic acid and that tends to be very irritating for my skin, however, this serum feels great. I noticed that yesterday’s mild irritation was because I did not spray water before or after applying the serum. All good today, feels great.
Would I buy it again?
Absolutely, I was trying to find a serum with hyaluronic acid that would not feel harsh on my skin. This is doing just that. I will substitute my Caudalie serum for this one as it hydrates and plumps my skin for a cheaper price.
I have been using it daily and I love it!! I love that I can use it as well when my Retin-A makes my skin very dry or as a night serum for maximum plumping results.

Downside:
There are some ingredients in this serum that can be irritating or annoying such as:
-alcohol: but hey, if it is true it can be very drying, ethanol can also be a great solvent, penetration enhancer, a great ingredient that helps create light formulas, great astringent and antimicrobial. This ingredient is very popular in oily skin formulas, toners, SPF, serums, and more.
-parfum: but to be honest I did not sense any aroma when putting it on.
