Neuropeptide Facial Conformer

product review positives
SRP: US $325.00 - 495.00 Size: 30 mL/ 1 oz - 59 mL/ 2 oz The Perricone MD Facial Conformer has a thicker serum consistency, more like a lotion-cream than a serum. It spreads easily and absorbs after a few minutes with little to no sticky residue depending on what products I used under it. It works well with other products. It has a butterscotch-like scent and comes in an amber glass bottle with a pump. Dr. Perricone’s ingredient of choice is dimethyl MEA or DMAE. He owns several patents on it and adds it to almost all his products including this serum. Studies show that DMAE firms and lifts sagging skin, increases lip fullness, reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and calms inflammation. There seems to be a lot of DMAE in here since I can smell its natural scent and it’s third on the ingredient list. This serum containes neuropeptides in the forms of palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7. These are the two key parts of Matrixyl 3000, a well-known and the most sold peptide complex in the world. Studies show that palmitoyl tripeptide-1 has similar anti-aging effects as retinol: it can boost collagen production, repair skin damage, smooth wrinkles, improve elasticity, and lift sagging skin. Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 is known as the regenerating peptide because it stimulates the regeneration of collagen fibers in the skin. It’s thought to reduce cell damage during inflammation and increase the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin. The other peptide in this serum is palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, a powerful anti-aging ingredient that boosts the natural function of the skin cells. It improves skin firmness, evens out skin tone, and helps in wound repair and tissue renewal. The serum also contains a stable vitamin C in the form of tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate. This derivative has all the properties of pure ascorbic acid (AA): it’s an antioxidant, a collagen booster, and a skin brightener. It’s shown to have better skin penetration abilities than AA because it’s oil-soluble so it’s able to go deeper into the layers of the skin. Other notable ingredients include glycerin, ceramide NG, rutin, zinc gluconate, and copper gluconate. There is no alcohol in this formula. I have used this serum prior to retinol and tretinoin and it did make my skin appear brighter, smoother, and firmer. It enhances overall appearance, making my skin look healthier. I like using this around my eyes to help lift the droopy skin and on my lips to smooth out lip lines. It’s an effective anti-aging treatment although not as good as my tretinoin. I’m still using this serum and feel like it’s a good complement to my tret. The serum is moisturizing enough on my oily skin. I can get away with using this as my daytime moisturizer under a hydrating sunscreen.
product review negatives
This has fragrance so it may not be suitable for very sensitive skin. Despite the addition of fragrance, the natural scent of DMAE may be noticeable. DMAE has a fishy smell and I often get a whiff of it. Some may be bothered by this.
