Clay Mask

product review positives
🌱 Global Beauty Care is a bit of an oddball brand when it comes to the skincare world. They have a ton of sub-brands, and you can find them all in places like Walmart, Dollar Tree, Dollarama and other bargain spots. Their website can only be described as janky, both on PC and mobile. They don’t even have a complete list of all the products they sell on their own website. 🌱 This sounds like a recipe for disaster, right? Despite all that, their products are kinda… good? Like, really quite good. Products that you can get for $1-4 dollars are hitting way, way upward. 🌱 Claims: There has been some recent rebranding from GBC under their new Spascriptions line, and I have the old packaging. There are no major claims made on the packaging. 🌱 Key Ingredients: Allantoin, Retinol, Tocopherol, Ascorbic acid (Vitamins A, C, E), Dipotassium glycyrrhizate (liquorice extract) 🌱 Bad ingredients: None! 🌱 Negatives: Being packaged in a jar, the formula is exposed to bacteria and oxygen, which will pretty quickly render the retinol and vitamin C useless. But that’s not a flaw of this being a $1 item, there are way too many luxury brands selling hundred-dollar creams in wide-mouth jars who should know better. At least this mask comes in a fairly small amount so you will use it up quickly. 🌱 Texture: This is a very finely-milled clay. There is no graininess or scrub granules whatsoever, something I appreciate in a mask. 🌱 Scent: None. 🌱 Price: $1.25CA for 50mL or $0.03/mL!! Probably one of the most inexpensive items I’ve ever reviewed. 🌱 Application: This mask performs like other masks that are much more expensive, and doesn’t have any cloying fragrances or irritating plant extracts in it. It absorbs oil without feeling tight, washes off easily, and leaves my skin feeling smooth and ready for toner. Look, I find it hard to believe, too. This little jar just performs with such excellence. Is it the best mask I’ve ever tried? No, but all things considered, 3 cents per mil is a heck of a good deal. 🌱 Every day? It’s really not recommended to use any clay mask daily, but I would use this twice a week. 🌱 Packaging: If it wasn’t packaged in a jar it would be perfect. 🌱 Accessibility: The twist-off lid is smooth and could use texture bumps around the rim. Sustainability: Made of recyclable PET plastic. 🌱 Overall: If you’re ever in a dollar store and see this item, give it a shot. It’s worth the spare change.
