Atopalm - Robynrose review for Moisturizing Multi Oil

🌱 I received this from Neopharm as part of a giveaway in exchange for my honest review 🌱 🌱 Brand Story: Atopalm is a sister brand to Real Barrier under the Neopharm umbrella. While real barrier is targeted at those with dry, damaged skin, Atopalm is more of a family brand, safe for adults and children. Founded by Dr. Raymond Beong Deog Park, a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Seoul National University, Atopalm was created from his research to help his two children recover from Atopic dermatitis. 🌱 Claims: For face and body use "Blended with 99.9% naturally-derived* oil extracted from sunflower, jojoba seed, and more nutrient-rich seeds and nuts" "Leaves the skin well-nourished with a healthy-looking glow" "Formulated with EWG green graded ingredients only**" (*I am unsure if “naturally derived” is a mistranslation of organic, since this is not a legal term in Canada) 🌱 Key Ingredients: The formula is primarily a mixture of oils known to be beneficial to skin for their moisturising, skin-soothing and antioxidant properties. 🌱 Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is the top ingredient, providing emollient properties from fatty acids 🌱 Helianthus Annuus (sunflower) Seed Oil - emollient, antioxidant 🌱 Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil - emollient, antioxidant 🌱 Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil - emollient, antioxidant 🌱 Camellia Sinensis (green tea) Oil - antioxidant 🌱 Carthamus Tinctorius (safflower) Oil - emollient, antioxidant 🌱 Calendula Officinalis extract - antioxidant 🌱 Artemisia Vulgaris (mugwort) oil - skin soothing, antioxidant 🌱 Myristoyl/Palmitoyl Oxostearamide/Arachamide MEA - Neopharm’s trademarked skin-similar synthetic pseudo-ceramides which help seal in moisture. 🌱 Texture: This is a fairly light oil, not quite as thin as pure squalane, but a good balance of body and absorbency. For dry patches on my body I don’t need an ultra-thin dry oil, I want something that will deliver moisture and last all day. 🌱 Scent: This has a woody, chypre scent from the inclusion of Sandalwood, Patchouli, and to my surprise, Copaifera Officinalis (Balsam Copaiba) resin. Sandalwood and Patchouli have been used for millennia as fragrance additives. They are known to cause sensitivity and skin irritation, but are also culturally and historically important scents that humans enjoy. 🌱 My biggest concern is the Copaifera Officinalis (Balsam Copaiba) Resin. This is a phototoxic fatty resin that is used in patch tests for skin sensitivity because it reliably causes irritation like clockwork. **It has an EWG grade of 4 due to concerns over irritation, which breaks Neopharm’s promise of only having EWG green-grade ingredients. 🌱 While Atopalm does not include this in high amounts, I am still rather concerned by its addition. Would you give your baby a healthy organic meal if it included just a tiny bit of cigarette smoke? There are many non-irritating fragrance additives out there, like Chamomile, Cucumber, Melon, Coconut, Vanilla and more. There is no reason to add bad ingredients in the tiniest amount. 🌱 Price: Unknown? I can’t seem to find this on Neopharm’s website 🌱 Application: A little goes a long way! Definitely apply this in thin layers and build up. The more you massage this in, the softer and smoother your skin gets. After I’ve applied it, I literally cannot stop petting my hand. It’s so SOFT. No more of those rough scales from washing dishes and tugging on dog leashes. My skin looks years younger. I recommend using a hydrating product before applying this to add water to the skin, and then massaging this over top to seal everything in. Amazing post-shave or after an exfoliation cloth. 🌱 Other uses: The whole body! Face, elbows, feet, anywhere. If it’s dry, this will deliver soft moisture! Can be used as an oil cleanser / makeup remover if you’re in a pinch, but this oil does not emulsify, so wash it off thoroughly. I would rather go to sleep with a slightly oily, but clean face than sleep in old makeup. 🌱 Every day: If you are not sensitive to fragrant essential oils, this can be used every day. This would be a top-tier product if Atopalm removed the small amounts of irritating fragrance from it. 🌱 Packaging: The product comes in a clear plastic bottle with a pump and small cap. I know why they made this choice, as the cap prevents little oil drips from getting everywhere. But it’s also difficult looking after such a small piece of plastic that will eventually wind up in a landfill. I would prefer if they skipped the small cap all together and went with a twist-lock pump to reduce plastic. My other concern is the clear plastic bottle. This is not the worst way to store an oil product, just make sure it’s not sitting out in direct sunlight. UV light will penetrate the bottle and cause the contents to go rancid early. This product could be refilled if refills were made available. It is made from recyclable PET plastic. 🌱 Overall: The main formula of this oil is very good. It contains a best-of-the-best list of skincare superstars that will provide deep, lasting moisture to dry skin. My only major concern is the addition of volatile, irritating fragrances. Neopharm creates truly brilliant formulations and I believe they would stand out on their own without any scent at all
