Face Defender
This is so unique! It's a multi purpose, non-powder finning product/complexion product that doubles as a primer that you can layer so easily or use solo to subtly smooth any texture and kill any shine.
I bought this originally as an "on the go" touch up for my oily skin but found out that it works so great under foundation to extend foundation wear on my t zone.
I start with a cleansed face and follow with my regular skincare products: moisturizer, spf, and primer of choice. After that I go in with Mally Face Defender in my t zone, and any "problem" areas with really noticeable texture I want to smooth out a bit. A little goes a long way and I've only tried this with liquid foundation. After my makeup is set with Urban Decay Velvetizer I use this again over areas I tend to get really oily! But it does take a bit of technique to not spread the underneath makeup; mostly just properly setting my previous makeup and waiting for my setting spray to really set and dry. To apply the product: TAP the sponge on the surface of the gel-like solid and apply to needed areas.
Extends foundation by hours and great for touch ups!
The Mally website offers a welcome discount of 35% off your first order and "love it, or return it for free " and as of now (Nov 2, 2023) they're running an early black Friday promo/sale of 44% off sitewide with code: 44HOL
This review is NOT incentivized, I just thoroughly love this product and it was a game charger for having my makeup last so much longer with my oily skin.
Will upload photos of before and after using it next time I do my makeup.
Honestly, there's not much bad to say about this product! If you remember to pat the sponge on the gel, and pat (not drag or brush) onto your face, you'll have zero smudging or unwanted transfer of the underneath makeup. If you forget (like me sometimes) then depending on your makeup and how you're trying to use it, it may end up with a bit of foundation of setting powder transferred into the sponge but that's the worst I've found; it never disturbs my foundation underneath it and the sponges are recommended to be replaced after a certain amount of time anyways for hygienic reasons.
I guess my only "complaint" is that the sponge is kind of rubberized so it lasts a good length of time- which is great- but the rubberized also attracts all the cat hair near it! So if you have shedding pets, keep it in a ziploc unless you want to wipe cat/dog hair on your face with this product 😂
