Resveratrol Vitamin C Serum

product review positives
SRP: US $246.00 Size: 30 mL/ 1oz Very silky to the touch and spreads wonderfully. Has a pleasant fruity scent. It’s packaged in an opaque bottle with a pump dispenser. The product contains Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (a promising C derivative - antioxidant, brightening), Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E - antioxidant), Retinyl Palmitate (ester of vitamin A - anti-aging), Wheat Germ Oil (humentant/moisturizer), and Pichia/Resveratrol Ferment Extract (anti-aging, antioxidant). This does not contain drying alcohol. I used this a few years back but still remember the sensorial experience it gave. The serum is so smooth and silky and just glides effortlessly on skin. A tiny bit is enough for the whole face because of how easily it spreads. The scent adds to the experience. It smells so good, it’s warm and sweet and makes me think of orange creamsicle. Very pleasant to use and does not irritate nor sensitize my skin.
product review negatives
I was so impressed the first time I used this because of how wonderful its texture is but I learned so much about skincare from trying out different products and doing research so I realized that this is not as good as I thought. This serum contains a lot of silicones. In fact, the first three ingredients are silicones: Cyclomethicone, Cyclotetrasiloxane, and Cyclopentasiloxane. All these are volatile meaning they evaporate and don’t stay on the skin. I don’t have any problems with silicones, they are great texture enhancers and has line filling benefits. However, they can’t moisturize skin but give the perception that they can. This product, with its high silicone content, is better used as a makeup primer than a vitamin C serum. I’m also not convinced with this serum’s brightening properties. I didn’t see lightening of dark marks even after finishing a bottle. Although this is a dream to use, the less than stellar skin brightening benefits and high price point outweigh it so I won’t repurchase, but if I must, I’ll use this as a primer. This may not be suitable for very sensitive skin because it contains fragrance. Also, cap cracked soon after using it. I’d think they would use better quality packaging for such a pricey product.
