Vitamin C Boosting Serum
If you’re looking for a vitamin c serum that isn’t irritating but provides all the benefits to add to your morning skincare, look no further! This is a no fuss vitamin c serum that evens the skin tone, brightens dull skin, and has photo protection properties (helps protect skin against free radical damage.) This serum has been a wonderful addition to my morning routine!
The vitamin c in this product isn’t its pure, unstable form: L-ascorbic acid. Instead, it combines 9multi vitamins and hypphophae rhamnoides fruit extract to deliver a high concentration of vitamin C to the skin without any irritation. They’ve trademarked it as their “20% vita boosting complex”. It also contains 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid which is my favorite vitamin c derivative! It’s stable and provides almost all the same benefits as the pure form. It’s also formulated with niacinamide and panthenol to soothe the skin and control sebum production.
The packaging of this product is super cute, especially the rectangular shape of the bottle. It comes with a dropper and there’s a pretty picture of oranges on the front. There is only one size available for this product, 30 ml. There are no other sizes, however Dr. Althea did release a sensitive skin and fungal acne safe version of the serum in a green bottle that’s also 30 ml.
The product application is very therapeutic and my skin instantly feels more bright and rejuvinated. The serum layers well with my other products and makes my skin feel so soft. I love using this every morning and have noticed a decrease in my post acne redness and an improvement in my overall complexion. Ever since I added this product to my morning routine, I’ve gotten compliments from my mother about how glowy I look!
This serum is not too watery and not too viscous, and 3 drops is all I need to cover my entire face. It smells delicious, absorbs quickly, and also leaves no residue or stickiness. I have seen people complain about the added fragrance as it smells strongly of oranges, but my skin can handle fragrance and I find the scent to be enjoyable. I’ve also seen people complain about a ‘greasy film’ it leaves, but that has not been my experience at all. I’ve noticed no pilling under my makeup as well!
My go to hyperpigmentation duo includes this product and my Anua dark spot niacinamide serum. I like using this in the morning, and the niacinamide serum at night for the best results for fading my hyperpigmentation. In only two weeks did I notice a significant different in my acne scars! I know I can count on this serum to brighten my skin and even out my skin tone.
The Dr. Althea vitamin c boosting serum is a staple in my morning routine now and I will continue repurchasing this and recommending this until I find a better vitamin c serum. This product is great for all skin types, except for maybe sensitive skin due to the added fragrance. Luckily, there is a sensitive skin friendly version available! I love the quality of all Dr. Althea products and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.
Star ingredients
⭐️Hippophae rhamnoides fruit extract
⭐️Niacinamide
⭐️3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid
The only downside to this product is the added fragrance. There is a decent concentration of orange peel oil which can be irritating to sensitive skin types. I personally have had no bad reaction but if you know that your skin doesn’t like fragrance, I’d suggest the “gentle vitamin c serum” from the same brand!
