Retinaldehyde Serum with IconicA
This retinal has a very thin, runny consistency. It spreads easily and absorbs quickly. I like to use this product after toners and essences.
With occasional use beginning about 6 months ago, nightly use beginning 1 month ago, it definitely helps prevent acne, helps reduce active acne, I'm seeing reduction of lines on my lower lash line, reduces milia, it's reducing the deeper line in my forehead, and PIH scars are fading. It's beneficial to everything.
While my skin is able to tolerate this every night during the warm seasons, my skin actually changes type and becomes quite dry in the Fall and Winter. I was only able to use it up to 3 nights a week during the cold months, so be cautious despite what the usage entails. It's a strong formula.
*retinaldehyde is one conversion step before retinoic acid (Tretinoin/Retin-A), so when using it over retinol, your body should end up with more retinoic acid than what you'd end up with two conversions away with retinol.
The pump component feels cheap, doesn't control application well, and gets a bit messy and can clog a bit. I use 1-2 pumps for my whole face.
I would not recommend using this on your eyelids, be careful around your mouth (can cause cheilitis), and I definitely wouldn't recommend that you use this particular product on your neck. Skin is delicate there and can be very irritated by this product, or any retinoid. I patch tested this retinal and it made my neck very itchy, red, and bumpy.
