Ohhhhhhh
Okay. Vit c and Vit A
So they’re a few reasons for this. From what I read Vit C and Vit A works in certain in certain pH.
More acidic in Vit C and more neutral ish for Vit A
However!
It depends on what Vit C it is whether it is ascorbyl acid or it derivatives.
Ascorbyl acid is more sensitve to pH changes because it affect how it works and how sensitive your skin
Even Vit A comes in many forms including derivatives such as retinyl palmitate which is used in a few Spf moisturizers!
To make it easy for you. Vit C in the morning. Retinol at night
If you have a Vit C derivatives (anything not L ascorbic acid), you can use them at night by layering them. I do that because the formula for my Vit C is the derivative form (Loreal Derm White) when I am starting on ascorbic acid Vit C, I will used it only in the day time since I plan to use retino at night
You can also alternate the nights you use Vit C and Vit A
Or wait like 30 mins after you apply Vit C before Vit A.
Tl:Dr
Vit C morning and Vit A night

I personally love mixing tretinoin or other vit A derivative with vit c or niacinamide, they can boost the effect. But it depends on the skin tbh, i wouldn't suggest using many ingredients for sensitive skin

How long have you been using adapalene? I was on the same journey as you and my derm advised that we look into solving the acne with purely adapalene first and incorporate and Vit C after. I was 3 months into adapalene when I first introduced Vitamin C in my routine. Once you decide that your skin has pretty much adjusted to adapalene, make sure to use Vitamin C only in the AM and to use sunscreen after.
AM:
Gentle cleanser / water only
Purito serum
Vitamin C
Sunscreen
PM:
Oil cleanser
Gentle cleanser
Purito serum
Adapalene
Moisturizer
Optional: Sheet masks every week.
