there are different types of alcohol in skincare low molecular weight alcohol like ethanol and methanol. these are added to prevent bacterial growth, make the product absorb faster also to some extent it’s poreminimizing. high molecular weight alcohols like cetyl or cetearyl alcohol have skin softening and moisture binding properties.
with that said alcohol can act dryin and irritating on the skin or clogging depending on type of alcohol used

thank you 🥰 I don’t use products with alcohol because it burns my skin, it it too sensitive, but my mum has products with alcohol in it and I was curious about its function ☺️

Depends on the type of alcohol, there are many. If you mean denatured alcohol, it helps with texture (the product spreads and penetrates the skin easier) and it's also a preservative. But it can dry out the skin.

I heard alcohol helps ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin. Of course it's always good to double check this information I'm sharing.

I don’t like alcohol denat and isopropyl alcohol personally in my products, because I find them drying over time for my skin(and sometimes burns, like you said in one of your comments). but the cosmetic chemist @labmuffinbeautyscience says it’s perfectly fine and helps the ingredients penetrate deeper, like others have mentioned.

thank you, I also don’t use it because my skin gets burnt by it, but I saw that my mum’s skincare products have it and I was curious to know its properties ☺️
