How would you know if Retinol works on your skin?

Still doing my research before I purchase a retinol focused product.

Normally, you'd see changes in your skin in 2-3 months, such as firmer skin, smoother texture, less apparent pores. As for wrinkles, it's always better to work more preventative towards their formation rather than trying to smooth out the existing ones.

For me, it's shown when my skin is purging. And the after result is that my skin feels firmer at the lower cheek of my face. But, I have yet to see any improvement on acnes and fine lines for almost half a year of using a retinal cream.

I see changes after 2 months of starting my first retinol, purging wasn’t an issue for me. It gave me less wrinkle, soft, firmer skin, I also notice I have less break out since I started using retinol. After almost two years now it just becomes a habit to apply it to my face and neck.

My skin would feel more plump and firm after I use retinol

It didn't reduce my fine lines. But I did see some lively looking skin after a month
