Botanical SPF 50 Tinted Face Sunscreen Lotion - Medium to Tan
Experience ☆☆☆
This product didn't really work out for me. It was too matte (I prefer a dewy look), and it broke me out. I can still use it on my neck and chest because of this though, so I'll finish it up and won't repurchase it.
Ingredients ☆☆☆☆☆
I really like this ingredient list. Even though some of the ingredients broke me out. Its a nice ingredients list to read.
The uv filters (active sunscreen ingredients) are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, both at 4%. Which is a relatively low percentage. That doesn't mean that the protection is lower than advertised, I know that cosmetic science regarding sunscreen (especially mineral sunscreen), is more complicated than just 'higher percentage = higher protection'. I think its good that they managed to get a spf of 50 with a low percentage of uv filters. Less likely for a white cast.
This sunscreen also has a lot of silicones, which is probably why it feels soo silky and thick rather than oily and thick. I cant tell if the silicone is contributing to the matte finish or if its just the nature of the mineral filters.
Two ingredients in this sunscreen i am suspecting of breaking me out. Shea butter and squalane. Squalane breaks me out like nothing else does, but it's pretty low to the end of the ingredient list so I don't know. Shea butter however is super close to the top of the ingredient list, which means that there's a high amount of Shea butter in the product.
Texture ☆☆
The texture was nice. It was silky and thick. Like a really well formulated cream. Not oily at all despite the high concentration of Shea butter.
It was not runny at all, super viscous and stiff. If you put it on your hand and flipped it upside down, it would not fall or be runny. It would keep its structure.
Finish ☆☆
If this sunscreen didn't break me out, I still wouldn't buy it because of the finish.
First of all, its SUPER FULL COVERAGE!!! Which I know is what a lot of people want, but not me. It covered my dark circles and hyperpigmentation, which just looks weird without any color correction. I don't wanna color correct. I think it gave me a white cast too and made me look ashy.
Amount ☆☆☆☆☆
This product is 3oz(88ml) and the price ranges from ~10USD-18USD. I actually think this is cheap for a sunscreen. I'm used to seeing sunscreens be 50ml and 20USD, so I really like that this sunscreen is a huge capacity and inexpensive. I think its worth it.
Experience ☆☆☆
Broke me out, slight white cast (but I could've remedied it by getting the darker tinted one), too full coverage, matte finish (i prefer a dewy finish)
